FUJI Whisky Debuts 30-Year-Old Single Grain Whiskey in the U.S.
NEW YORK, N.Y
.— The award-winning Japanese whisky brand, FUJI Whisky, announces the U.S. release of its 30-Year-Old Single Grain Whiskey. A rare and precious whiskey, this 30-Year-Old release represents the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship from the Mt. Fuji Distillery, located just 7.5 miles off the base the most iconic landmark in Japan, for which it is named: Mt. Fuji. Only 100 bottles of this elegant whiskey will be available in the U.S in 2022.

A blend of multiple maturates of Canadian style grain whiskies, the FUJI 30-Year-Old Single Grain Whiskey includes distillates aged more than 30 years, including some aged up to 40 years. Distilled by the batch distillation method “kettle & column” and then rested in used American White Oak Barrels, each barrel was meticulously hand selected by Master Blender, Jota Tanaka, to create a rich, luscious, and beautifully balanced style whiskey with complexity. Recently, Tanaka was inducted into the World Whisky Awards Hall of Fame and is only the second Master Blender in Mt. Fuji Distillery’s 48-year history, a testament to the passion, expertise, and craftsmanship that went into this 30-Year-Old Release.

“As Master Blender, it was an incredible privilege to see this expression awarded the honor of being named ‘World’s Best Grain Whiskey’ in its initial year of release in 2020 at the World Whiskies Awards, and trophy at the International Spirits Challenge,” said Jota Tanaka. “I am excited to finally share this rare gem with the U.S. and for a new audience to experience this exceptional whiskey.”

The FUJI 30-Year-Old Single Grain Whiskey Tasting Notes from Master Blender Jota Tanaka are as follows:

Nose: Sweet and fragrant aromas of nutty brown sugar are concentrated, with ripe fresh and dried fruit.
The Palate: The flavors are opulent and concentrated with a seductive honeyed sweetness and bitter chocolate notes.
Finish: A gently woody aftertaste lingers that supports the layered, complex flavors.

Michter’s 20 Year Bourbon Release Arrives in November

Magliocco. This 2021 edition will mark the first release of Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon since 2019. Sagamore Spirit Releases 4-Year-Old Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey, Made Entirely in Maryland

It marks a milestone for the brand, established nearly a decade ago with a mission to revive Maryland’s centuries-old reputation for rye whiskey distilling.

Sagamore Spirit Bottled in Bond blends two straight rye whiskies, one with a high-rye mash bill, the other low-rye, adhering to the same proprietary recipe that has defined all of Sagamore Spirit’s award-winning releases since 2016. The result is true to Maryland’s style of rye, first enjoyed in colonial times: approachable, versatile, and notably complex. Fans enjoyed an early taste of Sagamore Spirit Maryland Rye, with 4.5-year-old Penny’s Proof

On November 13th, visitors to the distillery lined up for hours to purchase a three-pack of Penny’s Proof: Sagamore Spirit’s signature 83-proof rye whiskey, distilled and aged for 4.5 years in Maryland. It marked the brand’s third annual, limited edition Penny’s Proof release. Each has given fans, known as Whiskey Thieves, early tastes of Sagamore Spirit’s now fully mature Maryland rye, first at 2.5 years of age (2019), and then 3.5 years (2020). Each three-pack of 200ml bottles has been available at the price of one penny, paying tribute to the distillery’s gleaming copper still: one to sip, another to share, the third to savour.

Sagamore Spirit’s Maryland-style rye was originally distilled by MGP, then expertly blended by Sagamore Spirit distillers to make the brand’s proprietary, award-winning high rye-low rye mash bill. Maplewood Brewery & Distillery Launches Canned Cocktail SeriesCHICAGO, Illinois – Maplewood Brewery & Distillery is excited to announce the launch of their first canned cocktails, set to release the week of July 26. Primarily known for its beer, Maplewood’s distillery has been producing award winning craft spirits using a 250L Kothe Still since 2014. The ready to drink cocktails will join Maplewood’s Spruce Gin on retail shelves throughout Illinois, with further market distribution in the near future.

The initial lineup will consist of three sparkling offerings that each showcase the unique notes brought out by Maplewood’s spirits present in the cocktails:

Palmer Square: Maplewood’s Spruce Gin in a time-honored combination of Iced Tea and Lemonade.

“We developed our Spruce Gin after experimenting with spruce and rooibos tea infused cocktails and the gin quickly became a house favorite,” says Ari Megalis, Maplewood’s Head Distiller and Co-Founder. “The flavors of our Spruce Gin naturally compliment tea and citrus so well, that we knew an ‘Arnold Palmer’ inspired cocktail would be the best way to showcase its American contemporary style.”

Whiskey Sour: wheated whiskey masterfully blended with ginger, lemon, grapefruit, and locally produced orange bitters. Whiskey Sour finishes with vivid tart citrus that dances off the notes of fruit and barrel brought out by the whiskey.

Rum Punch: a unique reimagination of the classic. Orange and pineapple accompany an infusion of hibiscus and hint of cinnamon that make this a quaffable, fruity delight.

“Our spirit program has always been small, but we’ve been eager to share our products with our customers. The limited-availability product, which will become an annual release, celebrates the modern whiskey-making expertise of the Jack Daniel Distillery while paying tribute to the brand’s past.

Fletcher evolved the distillery’s previous aged methods by maturing Jack Daniel’s iconic Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey in oak barrels that were relocated throughout the barrelhouse to extend the aging process over the past ten years. The result is a more complex, hand-crafted whiskey with a rare flavor profile. After whiskey fans across the country bid on Barrel No. 0001 of WhistlePig Beyond Bonded FarmStock Rye, the winning bid came in at $39,000.00. To round off the donation to Farm Aid, WhistlePig has generously kicked in an additional $61,100.00 to aptly match the proof the whiskey, 100.1.

The winner will not only receive the first ever two hundred 750ml hand bottled units of FarmStock Beyond Bonded, but also the empty Barrel No. 0001 and a grain-to-glass experience at the WhistlePig Farm & Distillery in Shoreham, Vermont.

FarmStock Beyond Bonded straight rye whiskey is crafted from 100% Remington Rye harvested on the WhistlePig Farm, distilled and proofed with local water, and aged in Vermont Estate Oak casks for 4 years, 8 months and 14 days. It is bottled at 100.1 proof, a hair beyond the 19th century Bottled in Bond requirement of 100 proof.

FarmStock Beyond Bonded Rye Whiskey will make its official debut later this Spring, hitting shelves and sold alongside the rest of WhistlePig’s award-winning portfolio of rye whiskies.
