Breckenridge Distillery Announces Ultimate Whiskey and Beer Collaboration With Breckenridge Brewery

November 22, 2022 By Dow Scoggins

Breckenridge Distillery Announces Ultimate Whiskey and Beer Collaboration With Breckenridge BreweryBRECKENRIDGE — Breckenridge Distillery, the ‘World’s Highest Distillery,’ and Breckenridge Brewery return this season for the second-ever Buddy Pass, a unique barrel-exchange program to create a limited-edition Imperial Stout Cask Finish Whiskey and a Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout Beer. After selling out last year’s inaugural limited release in Colorado, Buddy Pass has expanded nationwide, entering 10 new markets and will hit retailers starting Oct. 24.

Buddy Pass is a unique collaboration between two iconic Colorado brands that allows you to sip the best of barrel-aged beer and beer-aged whiskey. The collaboration begins with Breckenridge Brewery’s Imperial Oatmeal Stout beer aged in Breckenridge Distillery Bourbon barrels to imbue boozy flavors from the whiskey barrel. After the beer is sufficiently aged, the barrels are returned to Breckenridge Distillery where they are filled once again with the distillery’s award-winning whiskey and aged again for about a year.

The whiskey, Breckenridge Distillery’s Imperial Stout Cask Finish Whiskey, highlights notes from the Imperial Oatmeal Stout resulting in a 114.7 proof spirit dark and sultry with notes of cinnamon and oak and a light background of fresh orange zest and chocolate. Smooth abundant caramel and dark chocolate hit the palate first as a dry matured oak and bold cinnamon spice follow and ride out for a long dry, spicy finish. The whiskey has an ABV of 57.35% and an MSRP ranging from $49-$60, depending on the market.

The beer, Breckenridge Brewery’s barrel-aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout, is a quintessential “big beer.” With a velvety mouthfeel, this beer is meant to be sipped, not slammed. The Imperial Oatmeal Stout imparts notes of dark chocolate-covered cherries, espresso, and toffee; its time in the Breckenridge Distillery’s high-rye bourbon barrels imparts hints of caramel sweetness that take it to the next level.

Buddy Pass is a bold, boozy brew that is meant to be shared. The subsequent spirits and suds are a perfect marriage between the two treasured craft brands that both beer and whiskey lovers alike will enjoy.

Buddy Pass 2022 will be available in Colorado, Chicago, Southern California, Texas (Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio), New York City, South Florida, Upstate New York, Arizona, New Jersey, Atlanta, and the greater Washington D.C./Maryland/Delaware area. When both products are purchased together in the following markets, buyers can receive a $10 rebate: Southern Florida, Southern California, Arizona, Chicago, New Jersey, Maryland, and New York.

Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to Share Series Two

Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to Share Series Two
Starburst on Lights in Bourbon Aging Warehouse Corridor

Louisville, Kentucky – Following the success of their initial launch, the team behind Hidden Barn returns for round two with Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Series Two, available this December. Series Two is composed of 10 barrels expertly blended by Master Blender Jackie Zykan.

Hidden Barn Series Two brings together pot still production and generously high rye mashbill, resulting in a flavorful and complex spirit. Barrels were distilled at M.B. Roland. The mash is fermented for three-four days using Christian County, Kentucky water and industry-standard yeast. It is then double pot distilled and collected at 110 proof. The undiluted distillate is then matured in wood-fired Kelvin Cooperage American White Oak barrels. Barrels rest on the property, and once matured, are filtered only for sediment before bottling. Located in Pembroke, Kentucky, M.B. Roland was the founding distillery of the Kentucky Bourbon Craft Trail.

“As with all Hidden Barn releases, we are looking to showcase the nuance and depth of flavor found only in small batches which allows each barrel to really shine,” said Zykan. “With Series Two, we opted for a high rye mashbill to showcase the multifaceted contribution this flavorful grain brings to a bourbon recipe.”

Hidden Barn Series Two showcases a high rye mash bill and its versatility outside of just spice. Batch #001 presents as a viscous mouthfeel with juicy, overripe blackberry and a hint of sweet Concord grape. The palate brings in smoky undertones, milk chocolate, and roasted nutty notes. The finish is clean on the front of the palate with fresh mint shining through. Series Two Batch #001 is presented at an undiluted batch proof of 112 proof/56% ABV.

In addition to the launch of the second series, Hidden Barn Series One, Batch #005 is currently available, along with a limited edition release finished in Madeira Casks.

Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was founded in the spirit of community and fellowship by a team of four friends and founders: Master Blender Jackie Zykan; Royce Neeley of Neeley Family Distillery; and Nate Winegar and Matt Dankner of Colorado’s 5280 Whiskey Society.

Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Series Two will be available beginning December 1 and is offered at a suggested retail price of $74.99. Hidden Barn products are currently distributed in Kentucky and Colorado and available online in Florida, and California along with 20 additional states and the District of Columbia. Ska Brewing and Peach Street Distillers Launch Ska Street Brewstillery

November 5, 2022 By Dow Scoggins

Peach_street_distillery_colorado

Ska Street BrewstilleryBOULDER, Colorado – The Legion of Ska continues to grow with Ska Street, Boulder’s first “brewstillery” concept. This joint venture by Ska Brewing and Peach Street Distillers opened in the former FATE Brewing space in spring of 2020.

Peach Street Distillers was hatched in 2005 when Ska Brewing’s two co-founders Bill Graham and Dave Thibodeau found the allure of Palisade’s locally grown fruit too much to pass by. Since Peach Street’s opening, the two companies have worked side by side— with a shared sales team, and collaborations such as Modus Whiskey, and the Boomerang Barrel Program.

Backing up even further, Ska Brewing was born on Colorado’s Front Range out of the minds of Graham and Thibodeau, with the influence of Boulder’s burgeoning beer community. This area is where they grew up and learned to homebrew, where Graham attended the University of Colorado, and where many of Ska and Peach Street’s staff got their start in the brewing industry.

After 15 years of partnerships, Ska and Peach Street will finally set up shop under the same roof in spring of 2020. “A number of serendipitous factors have come together to make Boulder the answer to what we’ve been trying to do for a decade,” says Thibodeau. “when the opportunity presented itself, we jumped at this chance to call Boulder home.”

Steve Breezley, Ska’s Chief Operating Officer who formerly worked at Avery Brewing, says, “So many of us at Ska feel attached to the Boulder community— it’s active like our home in Durango, and it’s an epicenter for craft beer.”

Ska Street will integrate Ska and Peach Street’s businesses, with onsite brewing of Ska beers in a 10 barrel brewhouse and distillation of Peach Street spirits in a 450 liter still. The Brewstillery will offer 30 Ska beers on tap and a mixology program that replicates the Palisade distillery experience. Ska Street’s food menu will bring together components of each business, with music-inspired, Caribbean-influenced eats to mirror the food served at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango, and the thoughtfully sourced farm-to-table approach that guests have come to love at Peach Street.

Ska’s experimental brewery, the Mod Project, has afforded the brewery and many of its retailers the opportunity to do some unique projects together in Durango, and at Ska Street in Boulder they plan to build upon this platform with their spirits, as well as well as their beers.

“We’re excited to get back to the Front Range, and to get more involved in Boulder,” Thibodeau says. “Beyond the new location, this is a great opportunity to pursue collaborations with accounts in the area that have been selling our beer for years.”

About Ska Brewing
In the rugged mountain town of Durango, Colorado, Ska Brewing burst onto the scene in 1995 when founders Dave Thibodeau and Bill Graham channeled their passion for ska music, punk rock vibes, and homebrewing into a rebellious craft beer adventure. Starting with second-hand dairy equipment and a DIY spirit, they quickly built a cult following, pioneering canned craft beer in the early 2000s and moving to their iconic World Headquarters in 2008. Celebrating 30 years in 2025 under new local ownership that preserves its independent ethos, Ska continues to blend upbeat rhythms, comic-inspired art, and award-winning brews that keep the party—and the flavor—hopping strong.

Ska Brewing’s lineup is a high-energy jam of bold, crushable beers packed with personality. Flagship Modus Hoperandi IPA delivers a piney, citrus-hop punch that’s earned rave reviews, while the crisp Mexican Logger—a fan-favorite since 1999—offers light, refreshing vibes perfect for sunny days. Honey-kissed True Blonde Ale shines with multiple awards, including recent Good Food Awards honors, and newcomers like tangy Lime Logger with Salt and tropical Guava Stomper Juicy IPA bring fruity twists to the mix. From hazy IPAs to seasonal stouts, Ska’s canned creations are eco-friendly, adventure-ready, and always ready to ska-daddle into your cooler.

About Peach Street Distillers
In the sun-drenched orchards of Palisade, Colorado—home to the world’s juiciest peaches—Peach Street Distillers fired up its stills in 2005, becoming one of the state’s pioneering craft distilleries and proudly unleashing the first legal Colorado bourbon since Prohibition. Founded by Rory Donovan alongside Ska Brewing’s Bill Graham and Dave Thibodeau, this grain-to-glass powerhouse sources Olathe corn and legendary local fruits to handcraft every drop onsite with mad-scientist flair and small-batch love. Celebrating a milestone 20 years in 2025 under new local ownership by Palisade natives Desa Loughman, Cody Butters Lewis, Jesse Loughman, and Michael Lewis, Peach Street pours pure high-desert magic into award-winning spirits that capture the bold, fruity soul of the Rocky Mountains.

From smooth Colorado Straight Bourbon with caramel-oak warmth to lush Peach Brandy bursting with over 20 pounds of fresh Palisade fruit per bottle, Peach Street’s lineup is a medal-hauling adventure in every sip. Crisp Pear and bright Apricot Brandies deliver elegant orchard elegance, while ultra-smooth Goat Vodka shines in cocktails or neat; juniper-kissed Jackelope Gin brings botanical bite, and herbal Amaro adds bittersweet depth. Innovators at heart, they craft unique gems like Bier Schnapps from local beers and a Colorado twist on agave spirits—all distilled with pure mountain water for flavors that are authentically wild, wonderfully crushable, and ready to elevate any toast with Palisade pride.
