World’s Largest Bottle of Scotch Whisky – Guinness World Record.

Largest Bottle of Scotch - World Record

The Intrepid: The World’s Largest Bottle of Scotch Whisky – A Giant Dram That Broke Records

Imagine a bottle of Scotch so massive it could double as a coffee table… or a small swimming pool for your dram-loving friends. Meet The Intrepid, the undisputed Guinness World Record holder for the largest bottle of Scotch whisky. This behemoth isn’t just big – it’s epic, filled with premium liquid gold, and it even fetched a king’s ransom at auction. If you’re a whisky enthusiast dreaming big (literally), buckle up for the story of this towering tipple.

How Big Are We Talking? Mind-Blowing Stats
Certified by Guinness World Records on September 9, 2021, The Intrepid stands an impressive 5 feet 11 inches (1.8 meters) tall! It holds a whopping 311 liters of Scotch, equivalent to about 444 standard 750ml bottles.

To put that in perspective:
That’s over 12,400 standard 25ml drams.
If you poured one dram every night, it’d last you more than 34 years – longer than the whisky itself aged!

It smashed the previous record held by a 228-liter bottle of The Famous Grouse from 2012 by a solid 83 liters. Filling it took over an hour, and we’re guessing the team at Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky in Huntly, Scotland, needed a ladder (and maybe a few celebratory sips afterward).

What’s Inside This Monster Bottle?
No skimping here – The Intrepid is packed with 32-year-old single malt from The Macallan, one of the most revered distilleries in Speyside, Scotland. Distilled in 1989 from two sister casks, it was married and bottled at 43% ABV.

Tasting notes? Think elegant and sophisticated: baked apple, pear in syrup, flaked almond, a smooth texture, sweet warmth with a dash of white pepper, and a lengthy finish hinting at French apple tart. It’s not just quantity; it’s quality that could make a whisky lover weep with joy.

The bottle’s label honors 11 pioneering explorers (like Sir Ranulph Fiennes), adding an adventurous spirit to match the bold project.

The Epic Auction and Its New Home
Created by Fah Mai Holdings and Rosewin Holdings, The Intrepid went under the hammer at Lyon & Turnbull in Edinburgh in May 2022. It sold for a staggering $1.4 million to a passionate collector.

Why This Record is Pure Whisky Magic
The Intrepid isn’t just a gimmick; it’s a celebration of Scotch heritage, exploration, and sheer audacity. In a world of standard bottles, this giant reminds us why we love whisky: it’s bold, timeless, and always up for breaking boundaries.

Whether you’re nursing a modest dram or daydreaming of owning a piece of history, raise a glass to The Intrepid – the king of colossal Scotch. Slàinte! 🥃
(As of 2026, this remains the current Guinness World Record holder – no one’s topped it yet!)
