2025 U.S. Open Whiskey Championship
Moylan’s Distillery of Petaluma, California, has captured the Grand National Champion’s Trophy at the 2025 U.S. Open Whiskey Championship. The distillery brought home seven record-breaking medals, including four golds in some of the competition’s most hotly contested whiskey categories. Their standout, Moylan’s Resistance Rye Whisky, was a clear favorite among the judges. This marks the third time Moylan’s has claimed the prestigious Grand National Champion’s Cup—making history as the first brewery or distillery to achieve this milestone in the U.S. Open’s 17-year history. Gervasi Spirits of Canton, Ohio, earned the runner-up spot, taking home five medals: two gold, two silver, and one bronze.
U.S. Open Spirits Championship
In a first for the U.S. Open Spirits Championship, Gervasi Spirits made history by claiming the Grand National Champion’s Cup in the spirits division—just after securing second place in the whiskey championship. No other distillery has ever reached the podium in both competitions. Gervasi Spirits earned four medals in the spirits division, including two Golds, one Silver, and one Bronze. Waypoint Spirits, based in Bloomfield, Connecticut, finished in second place.
U.S. Open Cocktail Championship
Finally, in the U.S. Open Cocktail Competition, Alaskan Distilling from Juneau, Alaska emerged as the overall champion. Their exceptional craft and creativity earned them three medals, including two Golds, securing them the U.S. Open Cocktail Championship title. This impressive showing highlights Alaskan Distilling’s innovation and excellence in mixology, standing out among a strong field of competitors from across the country.
